Trees in the snow by 3fukutaicho Trees in the snow by 3fukutaicho
So I painted this as a way of celebrating my completion of several uni projects because I'm that much of a nerd, I paint trees for 3 hours in Photoshop as a fun thing. This is actually my first piece of work for the year that's not dedicated to uni work, and it's April already, how fast does time fly? TwT

Anyway, I'm not quite sure if this looks finished as it is. In my reference, which is a photo that I found in the paper about year ago, there was a person walking in that little space in the middle and I'm wondering if I should draw a person there or just leave this as a landscape. I'm also wondering if I should put some textures in like I usually do. Any suggestions?

This is also my first painting done on my MacBook in Adobe Photoshop CS5. I really do think that graphic quality looks better than my PS 7 on my old Vista laptop, but yeah, I still need to improve my digital painting skills and hopefully I haven't gotten worse. XD

I haven't digitally painted anything other this piece so far this year. Uni gives us so much work. >w<

But I want to paint more. I think I might set myself a goal of painting something digitally every time we get a half-sememter / semester break so I'll at have at least 4 paintings this year.

Nice to see you back. To answer -- that would be your choice. I've always loved seeeing little figures in landscapes, like Caspar David Friedrich does here and there. It gives the picture a reference point, makes you wonder what the person is thinking, what their story is etc. On the other hand, in the 1st person view it's the viewer who does the thinking and the story. (Like 3rd person and 1st person videogames, I guess.) The effect would be different, so you have to pick according to what you aim to do. As for finishing touches, it looks great already, but I have to wonder where the sky is.

I was actually thinking of Friedrich when I was wondering about the figure in the landscape. And lol, there wasn't any skyline in the photo I referenced this from, but you made a very good point, I should do something about that.

Thank you for your feedback! It's very helpful =]
